ISO 14001 Environment Management System Customer description
The company deals in manufacturing food products for the country market, it hires about 20 employees.

Description of the issue
The Company Management wanted to limit the own costs of the enterprise in aid of improving the attractiveness of the product for the consumers. Thus, the implementation of the Environment Management System congruent with ISO 14001 standard was commenced.

TQM Consulting approach
TQM Consulting proposed implementing the Environment Management System according to the ISO 14001 standard in four stages.

Stage I. It covered conducting an overview of the current means of managing the company and designating an Agent for the Environment Management System's Implementation and a n implementation team. After conducting the preliminary analysis and determining the difference from the standard we began training the Agent's management team and the implementation team. Then, we conducted internal auditors' trainings.

Stage II. Apart from TQM Consulting consultants, the company's employees were also involved. With them we have specified the scope of the system, among other things we have identified the environmental aspects of Company's operations, for which we have presented the assessment and verification criteria, we have determined the scope of responsibility, rights and duties in the field of the environment system.

Stage III. This stage covered the implementation of the environment system within the frames of which we have conducted trainings for the Company's personnel, covering multimedia presentations informing the employees on the significance of the compliance of their actions with the environmental policy, procedures and the remaining system requirements, as well as the consequences of not respecting the specified operational procedures. The final phase of this stage was compiling the Environment Book, specifying all the environment management system's elements, starting with the management's declarations, through the environment policy to the frequency of audits in the company.
In Stage IV we have also conducted an internal audit with the previously trained auditors, after which an overview of the environment management system by the company's management has been conducted. Based on the conducted audit and overview we have made corrective actions and another assessment of the corrected documents.

The final stage was the certification of the implemented Environment Management System according to the PN EN ISO 14001:2004 standard. In relation to that we have conducted another employees' training and we have participated in the certification process as the customer's advisors.

Benefits
Through the implementation and certification of the ISO 14001 Environment Management System the company has achieved the set goals. Thanks to introducing energy consumption monitoring it has lowered its own costs resulting from excessive energy consumption, which allowed it to reserve more money to marketing purposes of its products, which in turn resulted in increasing the sales.

Additionally, as the result of increasing the demand, the Company's management has decided to conduct new investments leading to the development of the machine park. Efforts had been made to acquire an investment credit, which was given in relatively short time, among other thanks to the certified Environment Management System possessed by the company.
